special care unit
Blue Barn has dedicated rooms to the critical care of animals that we call the “Special Care Unit”. Often, animals arrive in dire condition, their lives hanging in the balance. To prevent the spread of infectious diseases, we have a room designed to quarantine animals who have newly arrived and until we are sure that they will not transmit anything contagious. We have installed an air filtration system to further this goal. Our recovery room is equipped with essential medical equipment to accelerate treatment. We collaborate extensively with local veterinarians who provide annual visits and vaccinations, spay and neuter, perform surgery when necessary, prescribe medication, and help us during recovery. The oversight of the animals’ ongoing care is managed by our President, a qualified veterinary technician with fifteen years working in veterinary clinics and hospitals.
